SPECIAL NOTE: Each course is scheduled for four weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks with a break in between each course.
The Associates Certificate in Biblical Studies is an accelerated 12-15 month program, designed to instruct in the basics of Bible study for the seminary student. The program is 120 semester hours in length and provides a Biblical foundation of study for all Christians who want to know more about the Bible. This program:

COURSE DESCRIPTION 4 Week Course This course offers an introduction to the basic steps and tools involved in the inductive study of the Bible. During this course the student will be taught how to properly read, interpret, and apply the Bible, which is foundational to vocational Christian ministry. BIBLE 102 THE BOOK OF GENESIS II (THE OLD TESTAMENT PATRIARCHS)
COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is part 2, of a continuation of the Book of Genesis. It continues with the historical study of the lives of the Patriarchs- Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, and the Israelites in Egypt. The geographical and historical settings are also discussed in this course. It includes many references to lands and people, places and features in Asia Minor.

BIBLE 103 THE BOOK OF EXODUS
COURSE DESCRIPTION 6 Week Course This course is a study of the Book of Exodus. The Book of Exodus is the second of five parts which comprise what Scripture calls “The Book of Moses.” The Exodus experience was the defining moment in the history of the children of Israel. In the exodus out of Egypt, Yahweh took a downtrodden group of Canaanite slaves and formed them into His holy covenant nation. During this study we will study and discuss the events that occurred during the children of Israel’s exodus journey.

COURSE DESCRIPTION 4 Week Course In this course we will study and discuss the Book of Leviticus. During this course we will be studying and discussing the instructions God gave Moses concerning the different classifications of blood sacrifice, the purity rites, the feast days and Holy Days of Obligation that defined liturgical worship in God’s Sanctuary for the children of Israel.

BIBLE 105 THE BOOK OF NUMBERS
COURSE DESCRIPTION 6 Week Course This course we will study and discuss the Book of Numbers, the Israelites experienced the failure of the aborted conquest of Canaan and the years of trial when God instructed and disciplined His children in the wilderness wandering. The book concludes in the fortieth year after leaving Egypt, at the Israelite encampment on the Plains of Moab on the east side of the Jordan River. During those years of wandering, the old generation died and a new generation grew to maturity, a generation that had not known slavery and the worship of false gods in Egypt. Raised in obedience to the divine Law of the Sinai Covenant, the vigorous new generation of the children of Israel was fully prepared to become Yahweh’s holy warriors and the conquerors of the Promised Land.

BIBLE 106 THE BOOK OF DEUTORONOMY
COURSE DESCRIPTION 4 Week Course This course engages the book of Deuteronomy in its social, historical, literary, and theological aspects. Standing as the hinge between the Pentateuch and the Historical Books and set as Moses’ farewell speech in anticipation of crossing into the Promised Land, the book recapitulates God’s journey with the people of Israel and sets forth “statutes and ordinances” for their new life in the land. In the ensuing centuries, Deuteronomy provided the criteria by which Israel examined and judged itself.

BIBLE 202 THE BOOK OF JUDGES
COURSE DESCRIPTION 4 Weeks Course This course is a study of the book of Judges. Judges was written to show the consequences of religious apostasy and to point the way to a king who, if righteous, would lead the people to God. In contrast to the serene way in which the book of Joshua ends—with all Israel obeying God’s commands, for the most part—the book of Judges shows that, in fact, Israel began to disobey God even during the time of Joshua.

COURSE DESCRIPTION 2 Week Course This course is a study of the book of Ruth. This book highlights how God’s people experience his sovereignty, wisdom, and covenant kindness. These often come disguised in hard circumstances and are mediated through the kindness of others.

COURSE DESCRIPTION 6 Week Course This course is a study of 1st Samuel. The central theme of the books of Samuel is God’s exercising of his cosmic kingship by inaugurating a Davidic dynasty (“house”) in Israel, not a Saulide one, and by electing the holy city Zion (Jerusalem; as the place where David’s successor will establish the temple.

BIBLE 205 2nd SAMUEL
COURSE DESCRIPTION 6 Week Course This course study is a continuation of Samuel. The themes of 2 Samuel (namely, the Davidic covenant and messianic promise): the sovereign God, who has guided David’s life, elects David as his deputy to represent his kingship by his eternal covenant. David thus becomes the prototype of the future Messiah, Jesus Christ.

BIBLE 206 1ST KINGS
COURSE DESCRIPTION 8 Week Course These two books set out to provide for their readers an explanation of Israel’s later monarchic period in terms of the theological vision outlined in the book of Deuteronomy, so that these readers can move forward in their present times with a solidly grounded faith in the one God who controls both nature and history. The books maintain that it is this good and all-powerful God who oversaw the destruction of his chosen city and temple, and the exile to Babylon, in 586 B.C. because of Israel’s great sinfulness . Yet there remains hope because God’s chosen royal line has not come to an end, and God remains ready to forgive those who are repentant

COURSE DESCRIPTION 8 Week Course This Course is a continue because 1st and 2nd Kings were originally one book, 2nd Kings continues where 1st Kings ends. The book begins with Elijah, a prophet of God, being carried away to heaven. It ends with the people of Israel and Judah being taken into captivity. In 1 Kings, the beautiful Temple of God was built. In 2 Kings, it is desecrated and destroyed.

In addition to homiletics, the program is designed to cover hermeneutics, systematic theology, evangelistic preaching principles, and different preaching styles. While learning to interpret the Bible, participants of this program will study the theological foundations of biblical preaching. They will also learn to assess the sermons of evangelic preachers as a method of strengthening their own competencies.
